Alger Lookout Thespian Association (ALTA) presents A Shayna Maidel by Barbara Lebow. (Yiddish for 'A Pretty Girl') For sixteen years two Polish Jewish sisters have lived on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean. One sister is unscathed by WWII; the other sister's experience is painful and life-changing. Now in 1946 they are going to start living together in a small NYC apartment! Can they find anything in common? Can they be a family at all? A Shayna Maidel is a play of intensity and beauty that will stay with you for a very, very long time. Dessert Theatre January 27, 28, 29 / February 3 & 4, 10 & 11, 2012 / Time: 7pm, except for matinee on 1/29: 2:30pm / www.altatheatre.com / 360-424-5144 / Venue: Alger Community Church. Tickets range from $10 (1/29 matinee, show only) to $12 & $14. From I-5: Take exit #240 (the Alger exit) East to the flashing red light. This is Old Highway 99. Turn left (North). We're about 1/2 mile on the right. From Glen Haven: Go toward I-5 on Alger Cain Lake Road until you get to the stop sign in Alger. This is Old Highway 99. Turn right (North). We're about 1/2 mile on the right. Alger Area: We're 1/2 mile north of the tavern, just off of Old Highway 99. Look for the yellow "Silver Run Lane" sign by the drive that leads to the church's parking lot. Parking is available on both the North and South sides of the Church building.
